I used bootcamp to install Windows 10 on my 2018 iMac, at first everything was fine and I was able to use my apple keyboard/mouse to click through everything. However, I’m now at the end of the installation where it asks you to choose your region, and now my mouse doesn’t work, there’s no. 1 Restart your Mac and hold down the Option key until disk icons appear onscreen. 2 Select the startup disk with the operating system you want to use, then click the arrow beneath the icon. I'm finding that holding down the option key has no effect - the machine boots into whichever OS was last running.
In Windows on your Mac, click in the right side of the taskbar, click the Boot Camp icon, then choose Boot Camp Control Panel. If a User Account Control dialog appears, click Yes. Select the startup disk that has the default operating system you want to use. If you want to start up using the default operating system now, click Restart. How-To Fix Mouse Pointer Disappearing Problem. Before you try any of the steps below, click somewhere else and see the cursor returns. If not, close all open apps and restart your Mac. See if your mouse cursor is back. If the cursor has not returned or you cannot close and restart your Mac. Searched all over the net but to no avail. hopefully someone here can shed some light!

Overview -
Trying to Instal Windows 8 x64 via Bootcamp on my Macbook Pro running Lion 10.7.5. Finish creating the partition, Mac reboots, then just hangs on the black screen with a blinking cursor. Need to hold power button to shut down.

Early 2011, 13' Macbook Pro, running Lion 10.7.5
2.7ghz, i7, 8gb ram
250gb Sandisk Extreme SSD in Bay 1
500gb standard HDD in old DVD bay
External DVD connect via USB
Workflow
- I get to the 'select your partition size' screen, proceed to partion SSD 100gb for Windows
- Mac Reboots
- Hangs on Black Screen with Blinking Cursor and nothing happens.

Troubleshooting
- Tried deleting and re-partitioning multiple times, same problem.
- Tried to boot straight to Windows Disk via holding ALT at startup -> Same blinking cursor problem
- Tried copying windows disk to USB, then re-bootcamping, wouldn't work
- Tried copying drivers and .xml from the bootcamp disk, to the bootcamp partition, then rebooting to windows disk, still wouldn't work.
Anyone who has solved the same problem, or has any info, would be greatly appreciated!

- From the notification area on the right side of the Windows taskbar, click to show hidden icons.
- Click the Boot Camp icon .
- From the menu shown, choose Restart in macOS.
If you haven't installed the latest Boot Camp updates, you might get the message ”Could not locate the OS X boot volume.'
Or use Startup Manager as your Mac starts up:
- Restart your Mac from the Start menu in Windows.
